after examining the circuit board, I added a 5.2 zener diode (I used the holes for the resistor and led that are not installed but silk screened on the board, negative side of the zener goes to the negative side for the led, positive goes to the + side of the resistor) and a 2 ohm resistor to bring the output down closer to 5v. You have to desolder and pull one (bare) jumper wire to install the resistor. Be careful with the connecting wires, I managed to break the negative lead off the board, but that was easy to fix.I only had 1/2 watt resistors, but a 1/4 watt should work. Without the resistor, it puts out 5.6...
